When traveling; especially on long flights, it is always nice to have some level of a “Comfort Zone” to ease, learn, and rejuvenate the mind and body. I pack my “Comfort Zone” in my carry-on bag, which I always equip with all of my electronics, reading materials, snacks, and supplements. I am a Million mile member at Delta and frequent flyer with many other airlines so I have learned a few things along the way…
Electronics: Laptop, Ipod, Blackberry, Cords/Chargers, Extra Batteries
One thing I have found helpful is to always pack 2 fully charged laptop batteries for long travel, as well as always having all items fully charged before a trip. It is also a good idea to pack the cords for your electronics in case you have a layover with electronic friendly charging stations.
Reading Materials: Newspaper, Magazines, Business/Leisure Books, Inspirational, Religious Books, or Scriptures
To bring me back to my “Comfort Zone” I often will bring a long a book, or two, or three even. I try to bring a variety on my travels so that I don’t become bored, or finish one too quickly. This helps me to use that travel time productively, as well as to relax and get my mind off very long flights.
Snacks and Supplements: Healthy portable eats, supplements, raw almonds, dried mangoes, protein bars, fruit, granola, herbal tea, vitamins, water, gum, mints
Healthy eating is definitely a part of my everyday life, so when I travel this is no different. I definitely try to prepare before my trips in order to have a variety of healthy snacks that can go on my carry-on. Once through customs I usually buy a water-bottle or two for longer flights, it is always important to stay hydrated to combat jet lag.
Obviously different people will want different things in their “Carry-on Comfort Zone”, so it is best to pre-think, and pre-plan the items that will make you feel more at home and more relaxed. Doing this will better your performance in business, health, and life, as it has done for me in my many, many, many, travels.

Great tips, Joe. Nice to see you have a blog going. I will be sure to check it. Thanks for all the fantastic you do for the Xango Nation!
Great tips! I love hearing about how people make traveling more comfortable(I’m a big traveler, but you blow my traveling out of the water-LoL) so perfect description Comfort Zone..you don’t bring a squishy pillow? I can survive with my Treo (extended battery)and a laptop. My Treo has an e-reader, so I carry about 100 ebooks(and my scriptures) at a time.
